Hua Hin to Pattaya in 40 Minutes: EZY Airlines Launches New U-Tapao Flight
A new direct air connection between Hua Hin and U-Tapao Rayong–Pattaya International Airport is making travel between two of Thailand’s best-known coastal destinations significantly easier.
EZY Airlines has completed its inaugural flight between Hua Hin and U-Tapao, opening a new direct connection between Hua Hin and the Pattaya–Rayong area on Thailand’s Eastern Seaboard.
For anyone unfamiliar with the airport name, U-Tapao is officially U-Tapao Rayong–Pattaya International Airport and serves Pattaya and the wider Eastern Seaboard.
The inaugural flight departed Hua Hin Airport at 8:49am on 30 September and arrived at U-Tapao at 9:29am — a journey of approximately 40 minutes.
Hua Hin to Pattaya by air
Hua Hin and Pattaya sit on opposite sides of the Gulf of Thailand. Although they appear relatively close geographically, travelling between them by road requires going around the northern end of the Gulf, turning what looks like a relatively short journey into several hours on the road.
A direct flight changes that equation.
Instead of spending several hours travelling by car, passengers can fly from Hua Hin to U-Tapao in around 40 minutes, making short trips to Pattaya, Rayong and the wider Eastern Seaboard considerably more practical.
Scheduled flights begin in October
Following the successful inaugural flight on 30 September, scheduled passenger services begin in late October 2026.
EZY Airlines is operating the route using a Cessna Caravan C208B, with approximately 10 passenger seats. Promotional fares have been announced from THB 2,900.
Passengers should check the latest flight schedule and availability directly with the airline before travelling.
Why the new route matters for Hua Hin
The significance of the route goes beyond making a weekend in Pattaya easier.
For people choosing where to live or own a second home in Thailand, connectivity matters. Hua Hin has traditionally benefited from its accessibility to Bangkok, while improving regional air links are making other parts of Thailand easier to reach.
The U-Tapao route gives Hua Hin residents direct access to Pattaya, Rayong and one of Thailand’s most important tourism and economic regions without first travelling through Bangkok.
For residents with business interests, friends or family on the Eastern Seaboard, the difference between a short regional flight and several hours on the road can be significant.
And the benefit works both ways. The route also makes Hua Hin considerably more accessible to residents and visitors travelling from Pattaya and the Eastern Seaboard.
A positive step for Hua Hin’s connectivity
Regional aviation routes can evolve as demand develops, but the successful inaugural flight represents an encouraging step for Hua Hin Airport and the city’s wider connectivity.
Better domestic connections strengthen Hua Hin’s position not only as a holiday destination, but as a practical place to live for people who travel regularly within Thailand.
For those considering making Hua Hin home, connectivity increasingly forms part of the wider picture alongside the city’s beaches, international-standard healthcare, golf courses, restaurants and established residential communities.
The new Hua Hin–U-Tapao service adds another useful connection: Pattaya and Thailand’s Eastern Seaboard, now approximately 40 minutes away by air.
