Where to Find Great Craft Beer on Tap in Hua Hin

Hua Hin has never been short of places to get a cold beer. But if you are looking beyond the familiar lagers and want something freshly poured from a tap, the choice has become considerably better.

A small independent craft-beer scene has developed across town, from the cluster of bars around Soi 51 and Naebkehardt Road to the beach and Soi 94.

Here are a few places worth knowing.

My Craft Hua Hin — Naebkehardt Road

My Craft is part craft-beer bar, part restaurant and part neighbourhood evening hangout.

It is a good choice when you want fresh craft beer on tap but not everyone in the group is quite as interested in beer as you are. Food, other drinks and live music make it somewhere you can comfortably spend an evening rather than simply stop for a quick pint.

Good for: Craft beer, food and a livelier evening atmosphere.

Three Dots & A Dash — Soi 51

Just around the corner, Three Dots & A Dash has become one of the established names in Hua Hin’s craft-beer scene.

The bar serves craft beer on tap alongside bottled and canned choices, with indoor and outdoor seating, food and live music.

Its location on Naebkehardt Road also makes it an easy stop if you want to explore a couple of the independent bars around Soi 51 in the same evening.

Good for: Trying different craft beers in a relaxed local bar.

Bluesmorr — Soi 51

For something smaller, Bluesmorr is one of Hua Hin’s more interesting little taprooms.

It is compact, informal and focused on the beer itself. The selection changes, so part of the appeal is looking at what is available that evening and asking what is worth trying.

If you enjoy finding small independent places rather than conventional pubs, this is one to put on your list.

Good for: A small taproom experience and discovering local beer.

Midsummer Beach Bar — craft beer by the sea

Then there is the version of craft beer that feels particularly appropriate in Hua Hin: drinking it beside the sea.

Midsummer Beach Bar brings the craft-beer experience to the beachfront, making it a different proposition from the small bars around Soi 51.

Come towards the end of the afternoon, find somewhere by the beach and enjoy a beer as Hua Hin cools down for the evening.

Sometimes the location is every bit as important as what is in the glass.

Good for: Craft beer, sea air and a relaxed sunset drink.

Craft & Scruffy’s — Soi 94

For sheer choice on tap, Craft & Scruffy’s on Soi 94 takes things in another direction.

Craft’s open-air beer garden has 16 rotating taps, alongside Scruffy’s Irish Pub and other food and drink venues within the same complex.

It is bigger and busier than Hua Hin’s small independent taprooms, but that is also its attraction. You can eat, watch sport, listen to music or simply try a few of the beers currently pouring.

Good for: A large rotating tap selection and a social evening out.

What makes the scene interesting is that these places offer quite different experiences.

Around Soi 51 and Naebkehardt Road, you can move between small independent bars such as My Craft, Three Dots & A Dash and Bluesmorr.

Head towards the beach and you can have a craft beer with the sea in front of you at Midsummer. Further south, Soi 94 gives you the larger Craft & Scruffy’s beer-garden experience.

None requires turning the evening into a major expedition. That is part of Hua Hin’s appeal: beaches, restaurants, cafés, bars and neighbourhoods remain relatively close together.

And the city keeps evolving.

More than a weekend destination

It is easy to think of Hua Hin primarily in terms of beaches, golf courses and weekend escapes from Bangkok. Living here reveals another side.
